It’s Time to Turn Pro!

When my son and his friends have achieved something really good they use the expression I’m a Pro! I’m sure you’ve heard it as well. Have you ever taken the time to really think about the impact and importance of those four words?

For us who see the Western calendar year as a natural delineation of our goals, it is heads-up at this time of year. Goals were set in the beginning of the year with expectation of being achieved during 2013. April 1st has arrived, the second quarter has begun, providing a natural milestone. I want to talk to you about the key decision you must make in order to fast track your business and also your own life and career to explosive growth.

One thing about successful people and business is that at some point in their life, each one has looked in the mirror and decided that once and for all…

  • they were done with wasting time every day…
  • they were done with settling for table scraps…
  • they were done with accepting excuses from themselves and others…
  • they were done with standing by idly on the sideline whilst other businesses and people have better personal finances, nicer office space, more interesting customers and better work environment.

It was at that moment that they decided to get serious about being a sales rep, customer service agent, manager, teacher, leader or whatever they are doing in their business. They decided to become A PRO!

All REAL PRO’S have had this conversation.

So, let’s talk about you and your business…

If your performance was lackluster in the first quarter, what are you going to do differently to redeem yourself and ensure bigger, better results in the second quarter?

The answer is simultaneously both simple and complex.

YOU need to DECIDE to grow up – get serious and TURN PRO!

If you do not make that decision and continue on as you have been, without making any changes, do you seriously believe that life will get better? Will you have those dream customers or assignments? Will you have the quality that you want and that the customers are demanding? Will you have that relaxed feeling of having everything under control whilst at the same time, your customers are happier than ever?

No you will not and the joke is on you should you think otherwise.

In fact, if you choose to continue on in the second quarter with the same strategies, same attitude, and same level of effort that you put forth in the first quarter, the only thing you can count on is MORE of the same. Einstein once said, The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again, and expecting a different result.

STOP FOOLING AROUND

Now, you can disagree strenuously with the following exhortations, but eventually you WILL come to the understanding that you have no choice but to accept them as the reality.

You and your business will deliver outstanding quality to your customers when you get serious about doing it and NOT a second sooner. Until you decide to deliver that outstanding quality by developing a plan and executing your plan consistently, you will forever remain in the situation you are in. You will continue to deliver poor or mediocre quality.

You will bring about that harmonious working environment you are longing for – only after you get serious about doing what is necessary to change and NOT a second sooner. Until you make the decision to change your environment you will continue to suffer the consequences of stress, sickness and feelings of inadequacy.

You will make advances in your career or business only after you decide to make excellence  your operating standard. Until you choose excellence and commit to raising your standards your performance will be inconsistent, lackluster, and your opportunities will be limited.

You will enjoy your meetings with the customer only after you decide to get serious and becoming a real PRO and certainly NOT a second sooner.

Until you choose to build a loving, nurturing, safe and supporting relationship with your customers and within your business, your relationship will remain as it currently is.

You may choose to discount this message and continue to reinforce non-productive patterns, habits, and behaviour that will result in the same sub-par performance as mentioned earlier.
